Rosie Mae Carter Johnson (affectionately known to some as "Noosie") was born April 1928 to the late Roosevelt and Annie Mae Seldon in Midland, Georgia. Rosie joined Shiloh Baptist Church, where she spent most of her early childhood years. As a young adult, Rosie married Willie Elbert Carter. From that union, five children were born. Rosie welcomed two more children after transitioning to Miami.
On August 9, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital in Miami, Florida, Rosie was called home.
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Annie M. Seldon, siblings: Franklin Seldon, Daniel Seldon, Maxie Ware, and Elizabeth Jordan; children: Willie J. Carter, Homer L. Carter, Earnestine Carter Taylor; grandchildren: Fredrick W. Willis and Quanesha Smith.
She leaves to mourn her sister, Ruth (Edward) Larkin; three daughters, Willie Mae (John Lewis) Holmes, Annie Mary Willis, and Gloria Jean Carter; one son, Johnny B. Carter; fourteen grandchildren, Barbara (Lan) Norris, Bobby (Melissa) Holmes, Shenisa Taylor, Atasha Smith, Shawdolyn (Jay) Farrior, Deon (Kakda) Carter, James Taylor Jr., Bernard Taylor, Yolanda Carter, Demetrius Carter, Emmanuel (Tyneka) Taylor, Vatrina (Carles) Mardre, Amanda (Andrew) Grier, and Alisha Copeland; thirty five great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
