Abraham Copeland

Abraham Copeland was born on July 18, 1942, in Talbot County, Georgia, to the late Willie Ben Copeland, Sr. and Veronia Mae Copeland.

He attended Ruth Carter High School and, upon graduation, proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he fought during the Vietnam War.

At an early age, Abraham accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a faithful member of St. Paul CME Church. Throughout his years of service to the church, he served as a dedicated Steward and Sunday School Teacher, touching the lives of many through his faith and commitment.

Abraham married the love of his life Betty J. Thornton and remained married for more than fifty years until her passing.

Abraham was employed by the United States Postal Service for forty years. His strong work ethic and dedication led to a distinguished career before his retirement in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Ben Copeland, Sr. and Veronia Mae Copeland; his beloved wife : Jean Copeland; his brothers, Alvin Copeland, Robert Copeland, Willie Ben Copeland, Jr., and Bishop Jimmy Copeland; and his sisters, Minnie Bell Copeland and Mary Eliza Williams.

Abraham leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted son, Antiga Copeland (Shauna); his beloved granddaughters, Katia I. Copeland, Tori N. Copeland, and Simone A. Walker; and his great-granddaughter, Journey Pierre. He is also survived by his siblings, Clevon (Lois) Copeland, Lester (Rubye) Copeland, Ralph (Diane) Copeland, and Velma Copeland; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rose Copeland and Linda Copeland; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly and cherish his memory forever.

Abraham's life was a testament to faith, service, family, and dedication. His legacy of love, strength, and commitment will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
