Emma Mae Acey

December 9, 1942 — May 14, 2018

Ms. Emma Mae Acey, beloved daughter of the late Oscar Acey, Sr. & Idella Terry Acey, was born on December 9, 1942 in Talbot County, Georgia. She entered into rest on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. She was blessed in that the days of her years were more than three score and ten.

Early in life she surrendered herself to Christ and committed to serving the Lord gracefully by loving him and her neighbors and always with a smile. She was a devoted and faithful member of St. Paul C.M.E. church. There she learned to freely assemble herself in a service filled with love, acceptance, and fellowship. Her love for the Lord strengthened and inspired her to give of herself faithfully and dutifully to her parents and graciously to her family.

Emma matriculated through the Talbot County School system and graduated from Ruth Carter High school in Talbotton, Georgia. She was employed by Milliken Company, but found comfort in her calling, securing and environment of warmth, and joy where all who entered felt the quietness of her joyful heart. She was blessed to share a special bond with her twin sister Fannie. They were very close and extremely committed to each other. Although they were fraternal twins, they shared so many traits that it was difficult for many to be able to tell them apart.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents and one brother, Mr. Albert Acey.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted siblings three sisters and two brothers: Ophelia A. Neal of Columbus, Georgia, Fannie M. Acey of Georgia, and Sarah A. Glaze (Robert) of Jonesboro, Ga. Oscar Acey, Jr., of Manchester, Ga., and Roosevelt Acey (Charlie Mae) of College Park, Ga. Three precious nieces: Tess Dumas of Alpharetta, Ga. Teri Dumas of Atlanta, Ga. , and Angel Acey-Hayden (Tyrone) of Zephyrhills, Florida; five nephews: Derrick Acey (Natasha) of Jonesboro, Ga., Gregory Glaze of Lithonia, Ga., Kerry Norwood of Marietta, Ga., Nolan Acey of East Point, and Harvey Johnson, Jr. of Stone Mountain, Georgia. Her memories will also be cherished by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
