Our History

During the year of 1941 Dea. Max Anderson and Dea. Jim Marshall established the Anderson & Marshall Funeral Home - formerly named Manchester Colored Funeral Home.

The Anderson & Marshall Funeral Home was originally located in Greentown on Atlantic Street in the location where Georgia Power Company Warehouse is presently located.

In the Tri County area, Dea. Max and Dea. Jim began the relationship that earned them the Slogan "Dignified and Friendly Service." What's in a name? During their lifetime Dea. Max and Dea. Jim knew well the importance of a name. They worked diligently in the Tri County Community to build the name that has become a household name, "Anderson & Marshall Funeral Home."

It was never too early and never too late to call Dea. Max and Dea. Jim.

The Tri County Community not only called Anderson & Marshall Funeral Home and ambulance service but also community and church activities. These activities included School Board Trustees, P.T.A., N.A.C.C.P., Voter Registration, Bail Bondsman, Deacon Board of their respective Churches: New Hope Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church.

Dea. Jim Marshall was called home from labor to reward on February 26, 1973. Years later Dea. Jim's half of the partnership was sold to Dea. Max, but the name Anderson & Marshall remained.

Dea. Max labored with Anderson & Marshall Funeral Home, until he was called from labor to rest on March 6, 1988.

Dea. Max and Dea. Jim touched many lives during their service to this community . They became a legend in their own time. Their memories will live on through generations to come because of the name they diligently earned. It becomes the responsibility of those left behind to keep the torch burning, to keep and preserve the tradition of providing dignified and friendly service.
